WikiProject Notre Dame Invite

edit

Hey! I noticed you are a Notre Dame alumnus, hence I wanted to invite you to join our project. Also, I know you're already an active member of the project, but I just wanted to tell you that I'm currently in the effort to re-boot the project and make it more productive than ever.

Just out of curiosity, I know you're an alumnus, were you an undergrad? What dorm? Eccekevin (talk) 19:57, 9 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I graduated in 1980 (B.A., Economics). I lived in Lewis Hall. My M.B.A. is from Loyola Chicago in 1982. It was before ND had a MBA program in downtown Chicago, otherwise I would have gone to ND for that also. At the time, they only had a full-time program in Indiana, and although I was accepted, I turned it down so I could move back to my hometown in the W. Suburbs and commute downtown to Loyola's Graduate School of Business. Cheers! Funandtrvl (talk) 20:54, 9 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
That's great! I hope you get to visit often. Also, if you're interested, the current Lewis Hall section Hall is severly lacking. I found good sources , but I don't have time to work on it. If you want, that's definitely something that has to be done Archives[4]. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eccekevin (talkcontribs) 05:39, 10 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Notre Dame

edit

Hi Funandtrvl!

I know that in the past you've been an active Wikiproject Notre Dame. I am currently revamping the project and I'm looking for other people interested in contributing. We are in dire need, since Notre Dame has so much to be covered, but very few editors on it. There is so much to do, either adding content, or editing, or assessing. If you wanted to collaborate, there is the updated to do list (you can find it in the invite box). Are you an alumnus/a of the University? Please feel free to ask me for anything!

Best,

Eccekevin (talk) 00:35, 16 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Notre Dame

edit

Hello Funandtrvl, I just wanted to thank you for your work for the WikiProject Notre Dame. I am currently making an effort to revamp it and improve all articles. I was wondering if you could help out, since any and all help is needed. If you want, you can check out the To Do list for the top priority, or take your own initiative and work on what's needed the most. The top priority articles in bad condition, like the colleges or the grotto, need a lot of help too. Additionally, photos or translation in other languages are also great.

Best and thank once more for your work on Wikipedia, Eccekevin (talk) 02:35, 16 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

thanks- I will take a look at it! Funandtrvl (talk) 17:50, 17 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sourcing

edit

Since you are part of the WikiProject:Notre Dame, would you help me source some pages that risk being deleted/redirected, like Alumni Hall, Badin Hall, Carroll Hall, and Keenan Hall. I am trying to improve them to make sure they pass GNG. Thank you.Eccekevin (talk) 10:12, 16 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment: Eccekevin, this clearly violates canvasing for votes at AfD. You are free to post to Wikiproject talk pages, but canvasing individual editors you feel will support your position is a significant violation.  // Timothy :: talk  10:26, 16 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

I posted a few suggested updates to the Talk page Talk:The_Points_Guy#Proposed_Updates_to_Article to improve the article - if possible, can you review the proposed changes? Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Ras Al Khaimah

edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Ras Al Khaimah indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

Senior Wikipedians

edit

WikiProject Wikipedians aged 70 and older has been inactive for some time. The following three proposals may help invigorate this project.

  1. Change the name of this project to WikiProject Senior Wikipedians.[a]
  2. Open membership in this project to users who are at least 60 years of age and have made at least 50 edits in the past year.[b]
  3. Open supporting membership in this project to users who are less than 60 years old but have made at least 50 edits in the past year and support the goals of this project.[c]

Suggested goals for this project:

  1. To support collaboration and communication among members for the advancement and improvement of Wikipedia and the Wikimedia movement.
  2. To encourage older people, retired people, and soon-to-be-retired people to participate in Wikipedia both for the advancement of the encyclopedia and for their own personal enjoyment.
  3. To encourage older people to share their experience and expertise for the improvement of Wikipedia.
  4. To encourage older users to use their experience and expertise to help younger and less experienced users.
  5. To encourage participation in local and regional Wikimedia events.
  6. To sponsor Wikipedia meetings and classes at places where older people gather.
  7. To advocate for the elimination of ageism and sexism in Wikipedia and the Wikimedia movement.

Notes

  1. ^ The current name of this project, WikiProject Wikipedians aged 70 and older, is somewhat cumbersome and excludes participation by any users under the age of 70 years.
  2. ^ This current minimum age limit of this project is 70 years. A minimum age limit of 60 years should permit the participation of most retired users. The minimum activity level of 50 edits per year is arbitrary. A minimum activity level indicates continued interest. Members who do not meet the minimum activity level shall be moved to inactive status. Members who have died shall be moved to memorial status.
  3. ^ A new class of Supporting Members allows those users under 60 years to support the goals of the project. Users approaching the age of 60 years may wish to become supporting members in anticipation of reaching the minimum age limit for members.

Please add your suggestions for this project at Senior Wikipedians. Thank you,  Buaidh  talk e-mail 01:15, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

If you don't wish to receive any further information about Senior Wikipedians, please remove your username from our notice list. Thanks.

Request for you to write a Wiki article

edit

Hello Funandtrvl, I was led to you by your latest edit of the "ACP Rail International" edit on August 7, 2024. I would like to request that you write an article for another company called AccesRail. It is a company that provides consumers access to booking plane, train and bus tickets all in website.

I attempted writing it myself, but I am not that experienced and also considered as paid editor since I work for a company that works for AccesRail, which most Wikipedia people seem to frown upon. There are plenty of articles in the Internet about AccesRail but most seem to lack notability, not sure if it is because I am the one presenting it.

We were hoping a Vanguard Editor like you would have a better chance at accomplishing this since it seems to be within your field of interest (Travel) as well.

Thank you in advance for considering it. LFTSOS (talk) 20:33, 30 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Elder Wikipedians

edit

WikiProject Elder Wikipedians

My proposal to make extensive changes to WikiProject Wikipedians aged 70 and older was a bust, primarily because many users felt that the term "Senior Wikipedian" implied a higher ranking Wikipedia membership. Therefore, I am making two less ambitious proposals:

Proposal #1. Change the name of "WikiProject Wikipedians aged 70 and older" to "WikiProject Elder Wikipedians".
Proposal #2. Drop the minimum age requirement to 60 years.

Please respond to Elder Wikipedians and let us know what you think of each of these proposals.
Thank you,  Buaidh  talk e-mail
