Hannah Stambaugh (born 24 December 1998) is a Japanese professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for NWSL club Angel City FC.

Junior career

Stambaugh joined JFA Academy Fukushima in 2011. She was selected as a candidate for the U-16 Japan Women's National Team in 2013 and was also a candidate for the U-19 Japan Women's National Team 2 years later.[1] In April 2016, she was approved by the Japan Football Association as a 2016 Women's Specially Designated Player.[2] She also began playing for INAC Kobe Leonessa.[3]

Club career

In 2017, she joined INAC Kobe Leonessa.[4] Stambaugh made five appearances during the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, helping the Japanese team win their first title.[5] In November 2020, Stambaugh attended the training camp for the Japan Women's National Team for the first time.[6] She was also selected for an international friendly match before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics[7] but became injured during practice and was dropped.[8]

Omiya Ardija Ventus, 2021–2023

In January 2021, Stambaugh transferred to Omiya Ardija Ventus.[9] Stambaugh made her WE League debut on 20 September 2021.[10]

Angel City FC, 2024–

On January 24, 2024, NWSL club Angel City FC announced they had acquired Stambaugh in exchange from Omiya Ardija Ventus for a $10,000 transfer fee.[11] Stambaugh made her debut for Angel City on August 18, 2024, subbing in for DiDi Haračić in the 29th minute of a friendly against FC Juárez.[12] On December 4, 2024, after the conclusion of the 2024 season, Stambaugh signed an one-year contract extension with Angel City.[13]
