Untitled
[edit]"Stephen Crane (1871-1900) [...] Crane saw life at its rawest, in slums and on battlefields." According to my information he had never been to war. Instead he collected a lot of information about the war talking to veterans for his famous novel the red badge of courage. Kampy 15:28, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
Major renovation needed
[edit]I have tagged this article as needing cleanup. I am also concerned about the cat tagging (art movement) as this is about a far broader cultural movement. Any thoughts about the value of this article? Platinumbuddha 08:43, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
the Writers
[edit]This movement is described as being "an early 20th century idea" and yet the authors featured die in 1899, 1900 and Twain in 1910, with , I think, his major work long behind him. I am reluctant to slash and burn my way through this section, since it is not an area that I know a lot about, but probably will do something along those lines - you know - after having a couple of drinks and ..... and you might want to do something first. - Add and build, have a drink or a few drinks and then add and build :) The scope of this article can expand and go backward in time through the 19th century and forward in time further into the 20th century...Modernist (talk) 17:09, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

Why the past tense?
[edit]Why is the intro in past tense?
- "American Realism was a style ..."
As a style, it still exists. BMJ-pdx (talk) 01:21, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
In accordance with the Short description, and the wording of the various *-Impressionist articles, I have simply changed "style" to movement (thus avoiding the problem of how to deal with the past tense of "... that depicted ..."). BMJ-pdx (talk) 01:42, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
