The Good Terrorist scheduled for TFA

This is to let you know that the The Good Terrorist article has been scheduled as today's featured article for 8 February 2017. If you're interested in editing the main page text, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/February 8, 2017. Thanks! Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:05, 17 January 2017 (UTC)

@Jimfbleak: Thank you for selecting this article for TFA. The summary looks fine, but perhaps there should be a (pictured) after "Doris Lessing" and the image captioned with "Doris Lessing". —Bruce1ee 17:48, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
Hi, the article summary will be trimmed a little more to around 1100+/-100 characters, you don't have to do that, but you can get involved if you wish. Although there is a caption in the code, it isn't displayed at TFA Jimfbleak - talk to me? 19:26, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
OK, thanks. —Bruce1ee 21:18, 17 January 2017 (UTC)

Thank you for covering the book "concerning a naïve woman who moves in with a group of radicals in London, and is drawn into their terrorist activities"! Remember DYK days, fondly, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:13, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

My pleasure Gerda, I enjoyed working on it. I haven't been active in DYK for a while now – maybe I'll revist it again soon. —Bruce1ee 10:34, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

While I did not add additional comments since January 2017, I had been following the Acne FAC. I think it could be a FA someday, but still needs significant work. As I am somewhat semi-retired from Wikipedia, next time it goes up for a FAC, should you think of me, please email me and I will post a review again. Thank you! (just fyi: I am putting a similar note on a few user pages) --My Core Competency is Competency (talk) 13:50, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

My involvement in that FAC was minimal, and then only as a non-medical layreader. But I'll keep you in mind should the article be renominated. Thanks. —Bruce1ee 14:19, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Acne. Since you had some involvement with the Acne redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. --My Core Competency is Competency (talk) 19:49, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

Editor of the Week

Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week for your long-term article work. Thank you for the great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

User:Buster7 submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

One of the challenges of facilitating EotW is making sure we have an editor in the Que for the following week. When we run short, I start to wander around WP looking for a likely candidate by using a very random but time tested method of discovery----chance. But chance often leads to very worthy and deserving people to nominate. Bruce1ee, a regular and consistent contributor since the very beginning of WP, is a fine and worthy discovery. With 70K in edits with 2/3rds to article mainspace and 100% usage of the edit summary and almost 80 DYK contributions, he displays a true workmanlike demeanor. Reading his talk page archives show an editor that is congenial and helpful to all that have visited his talk page over the years. A WikiGnome he has been the key author on dozens of articles about bands, musicians, albums, songs, literary authors and their works, etc. He has been editing and refining and collaborating on a Featured Article, Burger's Daughter, since it was created in 2010. Bruce1ee is a great example for all Wikipedia editors, old and new.

You can copy the following text to your user page to display a user box proclaiming your selection as Editor of the Week:

{{Wikipedia:WikiProject Editor Retention/Editor of the Week/Recipient user box}}

Thanks again for your efforts! Lepricavark (talk) 19:00, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

@Buster7 and Lepricavark: thank you for considering me, I really appreciate it. —Bruce1ee 07:16, 12 March 2017 (UTC)

On this day, 12 years ago...

Hey, Bruce1ee. I'd like to wish you a wonderful First Edit Day on behalf of the Wikipedia Birthday Committee! Have a great day!

Also, congratulations on receiving the Editor of the Week award! Thanks for all that you do. Warm regards, Mz7 (talk) 04:01, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

Thank you very much. So I've been at it for 12 years! – but hey, I've enjoyed it. —Bruce1ee 07:14, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

Wondering about revert in requested articles/music/performers

I don’t understand the reason for this revision:

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Requested_articles/music/Performers,_bands_and_songwriters&oldid=prev&diff=773040097

An internet search for “Neil Larson keyboard” shows many entries. Is it because I didn’t provide links for some of these in the requested articles entry?

—- Doug — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dough34 (talkcontribs) 17:31, 1 April 2017 UTC (UTC)

Hi Doug, yes, please can you provide links to sources independent of the musician. This is to demonstrate the subject's notability, and assist potential article creators. All you gave was the artist's homepage. Thanks. —Bruce1ee 17:44, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

Hello Bruce1ee,

When you get the chance, could you give a prose review for my FAC of Naruto? If you can't, please reply. Thanks. -- 1989 17:49, 19 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi, I am a little busy in real life at the moment, but when I get a chance I'll have a look. My knowledge of Japanese manga is effectively zero, so I'm not sure whether I'm the best person to be reviewing this. —Bruce1ee 07:08, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

Clarification

Hi Bruce! Can you please let me know why you reverted my request for creation of Zifo RnD Solutions page? Ayyappan Ramachandran (talk) 07:15, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

I take it you're referring to this edit. You added your request to the company article request header page. You need to add it to the appropriate subpage, as described on the header page. So your request for Zifo RnD Solutions should be added to this page. —Bruce1ee 07:29, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

Walkaway (Cory Doctorow novel)

Hi Bruce, I noticed that you contributed to Homeland by Cory Doctorow. Just to let you know, if you're interested, that I've created a very basic stub article for Cory's new book, Walkaway. It needs a lot of work and TLC. Regards, Esowteric+Talk 15:29, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for that – it's a good start! I haven't read Walkaway yet, but when I get a chance (quite a lot on my plate at the moment), I'll have a look at it. —Bruce1ee 15:53, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

The Problem of Removing Content

Hi,Brucelee.I am so sorry to bother you.I need to remove the existing content of Gavriel Salvendy on wikipedia, because there are some problems with the content I wrote. Now,I need to have a detailed communication with Gavriel Salvendy before I can upload the contents of Gavriel Salvendy again. Please tell me what should I do if I want to remove this content from pages on Wikipedia.Vicjiavic (talk) 13:41, 7 June 2017 (UTC)Vicjiavic

  • Hello, read WP:EPON: Articles with an eponymous category may be categorized in the broader categories that would be present if there were no eponymous category (e.g. the article France appears in both Category:France and Category:Western Europe, even though the latter category is the parent of the former category). Keep both the eponymous category and the main article in the parent category. This is used in Category:Western Europe to allow that region's country articles to be navigated together. In all disasters categorytree, EPON rule is used. 185.59.158.22 (talk) 17:38, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

Revert on Ray Phiri

But Ray was a heavy smoker. I knew him personally, he was eating organic food but a chain smoker , in fact that picture in his page I took it while with the band on tour! I don't understand why in articles of musicians such as Cesária Évora we can highlight that they had a penchant for smoking and drinking while with others like Bra Ray we can't, just because such information generate a negative halo around the them? Bobbyshabangu talk 08:50, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

It's not that we can't mention such things, it's that such terms as "heavy smoker" are negative statements, and have to be supported by reliable sources. My revert edit summary said "Not in the quoted sources". Find a reliable source that says Ray was a heavy smoker, and you're free to add it to the article. —Bruce1ee 10:39, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User talk:Long-term abuser's Twin Brother, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for Deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discusion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. New Page Reviewing

Hello, Bruce1ee.

As one of Wikipedia's most experienced Wikipedia editors,
Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After gaining the flag, patrolling is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. Thanks. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 09:40, 6 December 2017 (UTC)

Translation

Concerning your recent request, this is what I came up with:

« Browsing the assembly of improvisers who had gathered on May 30th, 1992 in Bologna for Angelica (the glorious festival then at its second edition), one would never fancy they would come across such a substantially amorphous product, lacking actual creative outlets and the suitable ability to keep the listener's interest alive.

However, it is the document's the importance and merit to have brought to the spotlight, for instance, a relevant (though not quite known, on balance) artist like Lindsay Cooper, who died in 2013 at the age of just over sixty; and to have unearthed such a remote, “historical” we might even say, impromptu performance, to the conscience, or rather to the more than ever clear obviousness that, on this subject, plenty of things have stayed more or less unchanged from what they were twenty-four years ago (as proved by a number of present-day recordings by Leo, and not just those).

Within not even forty minutes (applause included) of CD, a bit too little happens, and since the best seems to come in any way during the first half (particularly in the third, tripartite however short, track, which is well led), even such a finite length ends up appearing somewhat excessive. Who almost seems to notice this is Gianni Gebbia, who in the very conclusion suggests in this sort of manifesto of the “non-belligerent (almost gentle, instead) antigracefulness” a vaguely folksy cadence to the soprano, in what nearly seems a crooked “after-a-lot-of-things” march, petering in the audience's still wholehearted and, we would say, true blue cheers. »

I did my very best to render such articulated syntax and vocabulary; I really hope the result is clear and fits what you were looking for. Do not be afraid to ask me for any further explanations. :D イヴァンスクルージ九十八(会話) 17:34, 17 December 2017 (UTC)

Would you please consider becoming an Articles for Creation reviewer? Articles for Creation reviewers help new users learn the ropes of creating their first articles, and identify whether topics are suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia.
