Footnote cleanup script

[edit]

Hi Erutuon - would you mind editing User:Erutuon/scripts/footnoteCleanup.js so that it also works on drafts (namespace 118)? If so, I'd appreciate it. LittlePuppers (talk) 19:30, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@LittlePuppers: Sure, done. — Eru·tuon 19:52, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! LittlePuppers (talk) 19:59, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
One more quick ask, if you don't mind: it seems that with the current version of the script, the event handler never gets registered on the button. (Maybe that's just for me, or a browser thing; I don't know.) Moving $("#footnote-cleanup").click(cleanUpFootnotes); to after the function (example) seems to fix this. LittlePuppers (talk) 20:12, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@LittlePuppers: Ah, yeah, done. Apparently I thought setting the event handler before the definition might work because var declarations are supposed to hoist to the top of the containing function scope, but it wouldn't work in Lua and maybe it actually doesn't work in JavaScript. — Eru·tuon 20:36, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot - I run into weird ordering of references and punctuation rather often in drafts, so I expect this script will be very useful :). LittlePuppers (talk) 20:41, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination for deletion of Module:Climate

[edit]

Module:Climate has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the entry on the Templates for discussion page. Gonnym (talk) 12:31, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Following up on recent comments at Template talk:Tropicos: Category:Pages using Tropicos template without author names is supposed to, as you wrote, "tracks citations of resources that should have author names but do not (such as the Flora of Missouri)". The tracking category is picking up every instance of {{Tropicos}} that doesn't have |first= and |last=. The template supports a positional parameter for a "Tropicos project". Most instances of the template do not specify any "Tropicos project", and first/last parameters are only (possibly) relevant to "Tropicos projects". Most instances of the template should never have first/last.

{{Tropicos}} isn't very widely used (309 transclusions) and most uses don't specify a "Tropicos project". I am inclined to seek deletion of [[Category:Pages using Tropicos template without author names, but if you are inclined to improve the code behind it so that it doesn't pick up instances where a "Tropicos project" is not specified, please go for it. Plantdrew (talk) 02:31, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like I wrote the opposite of the logic I intended into the template. It should have tracked only for two projects, not for all projects except those. So the category should begin to empty now. — Eru·tuon 02:49, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have sent you a note about a page you started
