About The Grudge
Hi, @MaranoFan.
Although I reviewed up to the second paragraph of the first section of the article, I apologize for my negligence in reviewing the article. If I finish that section and the next one, and if no reviewer has picked it up, I'll go back to the page. Seriously, a thousand apologies. Thank you for understanding. - Taking on reviews that you cannot complete in a timely manner (around 7 days usually) is not really appropriate, Santi! With that being said, I look forward to you reviewing one of the several Liv nominations in the queue when you have the time to do so within an appropriate duration.--NØ 04:45, 11 September 2024 (UTC)

Some help (just if you want)
Hi, @MaranoFan.
Just here to ask you about the "Compositon" section of a song in Wikipedia. I see that you use the lyrics of a song that appears in a source to fill out the section. I ask because there are several news items in Spanish that literally put the lyrics of a Latin song. So since I see you using specific song quotes, I think I could use those references. However, in the news I am talking about there is almost no lyrical interpretation on the part of the writers; So I see other good articles about Latin songs and they still use this technique, but they are old GAs (from 2018 onwards), so I don't feel confident. Could you help me in that regard? Santi (talk) 17:39, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- Someone who deals with music articles in non-English languages might advise you better on the translation issue, Santi. It's really a case-by-case basis thing and there is no one-type-fits-all.--NØ 18:42, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- @MaranoFan: I'm not talking about lyrics translation. Sorry for that, I usually speak unclearly and people interpret my words in another way than mine. I refer, for example: "'I have nightmares each week about that Friday in May', she sings. 'You built me up to watch me fall'". You use these kind of text in the sources to write in the article about song's lyrics description. The Latin press lacks this type of text and lyrical interpretation, but puts all the song's lyrics. Let's take up the example of" The Grudge". You say, "In the first verse, Rodrigo recalls how her entire life was affected after receiving a phone call from them during a Friday in May." I wanna do this type of description in my articles, Because I see that description comes directly from the lyrics of the song. But, for the press problem I said above, I'm not sure if it would be a good technique for GAs. I hope you understand now. Santi (talk) 19:04, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- No, you worded correctly the first time. I think the fact that the lyrics in your case would be in Latin and would require translation for the inference to be written on the English Wikipedia adds a dimension to the question that I cannot really comment on. You've made the right move by consulting the Latin GAs imo so go with what you find there. Best, NØ 19:08, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
@MaranoFan: Since I'm not talking about language, let's talk in a English song's perspective. You know there are a lot of viral songs, such as Artemas' "I Like the Way You Kiss Me". But, about this song for instance, there's not a existent source which describe and comment on its lyrics. Instead, makes a general and short summary of what the whole song is about, or puts only the lyrics. Or imagine a hypothetical case: there's a Meghan Trainor's single, but the press doesn't talk at no time about the lyrics in detail; or puts the lyrics or doesn't say anything. I hope you understand now, because I have the language matter under control. Santi (talk) 19:45, 13 September 2024 (UTC)- I'm so sorry. I think you understood, and you saw that's a language matter, instead I don't see it in that way. I take back my words and may you continue enjoying Wikipedia. Santi (talk) 21:40, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
