- Reply2Hi878: You know I do not like to explain my nominations here because no one can explain a motto and its set of links when it is published. If a motto (and its set of links) is not clear, then it is not a valid motto (for MOTD, of course). In any case:
1 & 7. "We both obey" and "To be commanded". We all know that there are some policies and guidelines on Wikipedia. There is also the "ignore all rules"–rule, but in this last case, we're obeying this rule. So in any case we obey.
4 (5) & 6. "in the full bent" [4] (in the best way possible/at the best) made me think of wikipedians/editors, "our service" [5] to their/our edits, and "freely at your feet" [6] to free content. "To grow the commons of free knowledge and free culture, all users contributing to Wikimedia projects are required to grant broad permissions to the general public to re-distribute and re-use their contributions freely, as long as the use is attributed and the same freedom to re-use and re-distribute applies to any derivative works...." This is from The Matrix. Morpheus says these words to Neo when he offers him the choice of staying in the Matrix (the blue pill) or knowing the truth (the red pill). I'm particularly fond of the WP:VNT link for red pill. I had considered using WP:RFA for how deep the rabbit hole goes, but WP:ST seemed more suitable. — Mr. Stradivarius ♫ 17:32, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

- Oppose. Sorry, now I'm the hard-to-please one! I like the first link, but not so much the other two. Why featured article review? I don't get it... Also, the dash should probably be done according to MOS:DASH to avoid getting style zealots grumpy. — Mr. Stradivarius ♫ 19:38, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
- I fixed the MOS:DASH issue without nominating a new edit. As for the choice of links, what I am trying to suggest is that if you start a requested article and develop it according to the policies, it might make it through WP:FAR. I intentionally avoided using the oft-used WP:DEVELOP or WP:FA links, but looks like the motto might make more sense when they are used. -- Forty two 20:04, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

- Weak Oppose - I don't like implying any edit war is just. MMS2013 12:08, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
- Weak oppose - I see another implication here: 'edit wars' where, for example, one side is blatantly violating policy, are as bad as their more evil counterparts. Kayau Voting IS evil 12:59, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Oppose - We shouldn't be saying that any edit war is justified. ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 01:25, 7 April 2011 (UTC)Support - Pjoef has convinced me. ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 22:31, 28 April 2011 (UTC)- Oppose - I have decided that I prefer Edit 2. ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 22:26, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
- Comment: I'd like that the so-called "powerful of the Earth" thought about it exactly in the same way of you, when they do (or, better, before they do) their BEEPIN' wars. I'm talking about real wars with countless inocent civilian victims, and as never before in the past. PAX MELIOR EST QUAM IUSTISSIMUM BELLUM!!! –pjoef (talk • contribs) 10:06, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
- Comment #2 ~ For those who are involved in an edit war, the war itself as well as their positions on the subject, appear to be right. Also, you can read this as: "if indeed there is (if there could never be) a just/good/fair/right (edit) war, then peace is still (would be) much better than that (edit) war". –pjoef (talk • contribs) 08:20, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
