[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀖𑀺𑀡𑀸 (ghiṇā), from Sanskrit घृणा (ghṛṇā), from घृण (ghṛṇa), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *gʰr̥nás, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *gʰr̥nás, from Proto-Indo-European *gʷʰr̥-nó-s, from *gʷʰer- (“warm, hot”). Doublet of घृणा (ghŕṇā). From the same root as घर्म (gharm) and गर्म (garm).
