about

This was recording at my living room table, but is nevertheless a very high resolution recording using wonderful preamps and recorded to the highest resolution digitally possible.

The title continues on from "Lost Time" my recording of the First Cello Suite, which played the first suite through the lens of Proust's "In Search of..."

This second suite plays the text of Soetsu Yanagi's "The Beauty of Everyday Things," an ode to the crafts of Japan and the beauty of things made by the skilled and practiced hand.

The cover photo is a scan of colour negative film, taken of my dad's sink. He saved this sink from my mother's house when she bought it and installed it in his. It's a family heirloom now. An ordinary thing.
