Imrryr, self-described as 'Bleak electronica and experimental music' but you can add a whole host of extra influences, from doom metal, neo-classical, ambient, drone, dungeon synth, prog / space rock, synthwave, sci-fi soundscape and cinematic epic music.

For me, Imrryr is an essential, hugely impressive 'like-no-other' solo project. With 50 releases since September 2019, time and again proving they are deserving of many more new ears listening.

With a uniquely inventive grandiose sound, the riff-heavy 'Dust' reaches awe-inspiring heights as 'an instrumental doom metal album meant to send a somber but hopeful message to all who are struggling with their existence beneath the boot and to point to the interconnectivity of our oppression'.

You can entirely trust it for your escapism acts from any daily troubles, and to gain inspiration to tackle that which seems impossible. Wrap your eyes and mind deeply into this majestic sound journey.

In Imrryr's words... "The title is a line from 'The Expanse' TV show. It wasn't in the books, and this isn't an album about the show, but I love the line and it perfectly fit the ideas I was stewing on in the writing.'

It is about 'systemic oppression, the struggle to be treated as an equal, and the idea around the idea that the fact you are existing in defiance of oppression is resistance.

I started writing this back in September 2023, going in with a tilt towards the liberation of Palestine as this is a cause I have spent years advocating for. I knew the title of the album and that it was going to build towards the end with the quotes from Ghassan Kanafani (Palestinian author and politician); then the current aggressions started. I abandoned the album because it suddenly felt exploitative and false to spend time "writing" an album about it. I pivoted and wrote a more stream-of-conscious-written album based on one of his short stories instead ('Falcons don't care where they die') and left it alone until you had reached out and it motivated me to get it out there."

This was my introduction to The Owl. Wow! Brilliant without being forced. The production is flawless. That separation that really makes it come alive. Transporting the listener to these unrelenting environments. I can feel the desolation. Each track stands alone, yet the continuity weaves it together making the parts a whole piece. This isn't for everybody but everybody should get it. This is art. A mesmerizing trip through the darkness and isolation in us all and the world. Masterpiece work. Grandpa Grim
