PhiPsi is a 2D and 3D computational solid mechanics program, which involves the extended finite element method (XFEM), as well as the finite element method (FEM). PhiPsi is written in Fortran and compiled using the GNU Fortran compiler (gfortran). PPView is a visualization tool for PhiPsi. PPView can be used to import Abaqus inp file, view the model defined in the PhiPsi keywords file (*.kpp), edit PhiPsi keywords file, perform a PhiPsi simulation, and view the simulation result files generated by PhiPsi. A phase-field model for brittle fracture is implemented in the commercial finite element software Abaqus by means of UEL subroutine. The phase-field method considerably reduces the implementation complexity for fracture problems as it removes the need for numerical tracking of discontinuities in the displacement field that are characteristic of discrete crack methods. This is accomplished by replacing the sharp discontinuities with a scalar damage phase-field representing the diffuse crack topology wherein the amount of diffusion is controlled by a regularization parameter. ... -
