Meghna Gulzar’s Talvar, released on Friday, October 2, 2015, and has turned out to be the 'Best Reviewed' film of the year.

The film has received rave reviews from all the quarters with most reviewers calling it the best film of the year. And the film is going strong at the box-office too. It opened with a collection of Rs 3 crore, which includes income of Rs 50 lakh that it did from paid previews.

But here’s the best part about its box-office performance – Talvar had a good hold at box-office during the opening weekend and showed growth even after the holiday on October 2, which happens rarely. After the first weekend, the word-of-mouth was so strong that it created a huge demand among the audience. As a result of this, more screens were allotted to the film by every theater chain across the country.

The film also showed a rare trend of growth during the weekdays. With the strong response that it is getting, the film had more shows and screens on the second weekend than it had on the first.

Talvar now stands at a total of Rs 30.10 crore. The film earned Rs 15.50 crore in its first week and Rs 10.23 crore in the second week.

The film has done extremely well in the international markets as well. In key territories like USA, Canada and UAE, the collections of the film doubled on the second day, making the overseas gross weekend collections cross $350,000.

These box-office numbers are fantastic for a film that was made on a shoestring budget of Rs 16 crore, which includes cost of production and p & a.

The makers of Talvar are now hoping that this trend will continue as the reviews have been amazingly well from all quarters and there is an immense curiosity in the audience about the film.
