During the weigh-in for the highly-anticipated boxing match between
Jake Paul and
Mike Tyson, Tyson slapped Jake Paul, an incident that captured the attention and soon became viral.
Paul's mother was visibly upset following a physical altercation between Tyson and her son.
“I’m gonna kill Mike Tyson for you, f** little b,” said Paul’s mother.
In a lighter moment after the incident, Paul and his mother shared a hug. “You slap harder than him,” Paul replied, and they both burst into laughter.
The match between former heavyweight champion Tyson and YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul has been rescheduled for Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The fight was originally slated for July but was delayed due to Tyson experiencing a stomach ulcer.
The fight will be sanctioned as a professional fight with modifications by the state of Texas. Several other states declined to sanction the bout due to the age difference between the fighters. Tyson, 58, last fought in 2005. Paul is 27.
Despite the four-month delay, Tyson expressed confidence in his chances. “His co-promoter, Nakisa Bidarian, confirmed that Tyson has been medically cleared to fight and is undergoing regular checkups."
The fight will be eight rounds, with each round lasting two minutes. Heavier gloves than usual will be worn, as per the modified rules. The event marks Netflix's first venture into combat sports and will be streamed on the platform.
The event will also feature a rematch between
Katie Taylor and
Amanda Serrano for the undisputed super welterweight title.
