Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attended Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert in Toronto on Friday. A video showing Trudeau dancing among the audience at the concert has gone viral on social media. His attendance at the concert coincided with protests in Montreal, leading to criticism of the video.
Trudeau was accompanied by family members at the Rogers Centre concert, according to a CTV News Toronto report.
The concert is part of Swift's highly anticipated Eras Tour, which began in March 2023. The tour will conclude in Vancouver this weekend after shows across five continents.
In the viral video, Trudeau can be seen dancing and grooving with others while Swift performs on stage.

The video, however, has drawn criticism from some social media users due to protests in Montreal. Clashes between anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian activists and police resulted in arrests and property damage in the Canadian city.
One X user criticized the Canadian PM, saying, "Trudeau is dancing at the Taylor Swift concert while Montreal burns. Words cannot describe how much I despise this man." Another user pointed out that thousands of homeless people were near Trudeau, writing, "Imagine thousands of homeless people are 100 to 150 meters away from where he is dancing!" A different user said that Trudeau "needs to be removed from his throne."

Trudeau was in the Greater Toronto Area to announce funding for school nutrition programs in Ontario and to reveal that his government will waive GST and HST on essential items for two months, according to CTV News Toronto.
Last week, during the opening night of Swift’s Toronto concert, Trudeau expressed excitement for Swift’s performance.
"We’re ready for you, @taylorswift13. Good choice wrapping the Eras Tour in Canada. Has this always been your endgame?" he posted on X.

Trudeau had previously urged Swift to bring her tour to Canada on social media. "It’s me, hi. I know places in Canada would love to have you," he posted in July 2023, referencing one of her songs.
