As a proud member of the IBEW for the last 20 years and a Navy veteran, I’m writing to urge my fellow residents of the 40th Senate District to support Senator Patrick Joyce in the upcoming election. I don’t vote straight party line, I vote based on who will stand up for organized labor, which I believe is essential for building a strong workforce and ensuring good-paying jobs for our community.
Senator Joyce has consistently stood strong with unions, advocating for workers’ rights and fair wages. He understands that strong unions are vital not just for our members but for the overall health of our economy. Senator Joyce joined us in supporting the Workers Rights amendment back in 2022, where his opponent was a ghost on the issue.
We cannot afford to go backward. Phil Nagel, Senator Joyce’s opponent, lacks a record of supporting unions. His election could echo the devastating consequences we faced when we allowed our state to be led by individuals who don’t prioritize workers’ rights. Bruce Rauner’s tenure was a nightmare for labor, resulting in job losses and weakened protections for working families. We must not repeat that mistake.
I’m voting for the union-strong candidate Patrick Joyce, and encourage you to join me.
