TRAPS: There are some -uestions your interviewer has no business asking2 and this is
one4 Hut while you may feel like answering2 'none of your business!. naturally you 1an,t4
(ome interviewers ask this -uestion on the 1han1e you admit to something2 but if not2 at
least they,ll see how you think on your feet4

how it worksG

un1omfortable silen1es as an invitation to 1lear u% the %revious answer whi1h has
obviously 1aused some %roblem4 And that,s what they do ! ramble on2 s%uttering more
and more information2 sometimes irrelevant and often damaging2 be1ause they are
suddenly %laying the role of someone who,s goofed and is now trying to re1ou%4 Hut
sin1e the 1andidate doesn,t know where or how he goofed2 he 3ust kee%s talking2
showing how flustered and 1onfused he is by the interviewer,s unmovable silen1e4
BEST ANSWER: 9ike a %rimitive tribal mask2 the (ilent Treatment loses all it %ower to
frighten you on1e you refuse to be intimidated4 If your interviewer %ulls it2 kee% -uiet

un%re%ared for it4 If you stammer or adlib you,ve blown it4
BEST ANSWER: Hy now you 1an see how 1riti1al it is to a%%ly the overall strategy of
un1overing the em%loyer,s needs before you answer -uestions4 If you know the
em%loyer,s greatest needs and desires2 this -uestion will give you a big leg u% over other
1andidates be1ause you will give him better reasons for hiring you than anyone else is
likely to=reasons tied dire1tly to his needs4
Whether your interviewer asks you this -uestion ex"licitly or not2 this is the most
