In this assignment, you are required to form into groups of maximum 4 students and
inform your teacher of your group members. Complete all the following parts and
sections as a group and submit only one copy of the below parts on the due date in the
GroupAssignment_Submission folder.

Part A: Case Study – Client’s Peripheral requirement analysis and recommendation


(8%)

A real estate agent owns a thriving real estate business in Sydney CBD. It has several
offices in the other metropolitan area. Recently, the agent has implemented a technology
providing listing details on the Internet which has proven to be very successful.

The latest business plan calls for strong growth. An issue identified has been that
salesperson in the field (when, for example, interviewing clients or conducting open
inspections) need to return to the office to read emails and obtain information on new
leads.
1. Briefly describe an information technology strategy that will reduce or eliminate
the time that the agent spends travelling to and from the office.
2. Identify client peripheral requirements and confirm in accordance with
organisational standards.
3. Document client requirements and peripherals needed in line with organisational
standards and report findings.
4. Take action to ensure client support expectations are covered by vendor warranty
and support services.
Part B: System care and Operating System (12%)
1. Recommend few guidelines for maintaining system performance and basic system
care.

2. Outline the procedure for diagnosing a system.

3. Describe the function of a computer operating system.

4. State the relationship between an application program, the operating system and
hardware.

5. State the general differences between the different computer platforms and their
respective operating systems.

6. Draw a simple block (schematic) diagram showing the interconnection of the


various components of a computer.
