III. LEARNING ACTIVITIES
A. ELICIT
1. Assignment
Pupils will prepare their assignment: Bring a picture from when you were much

given by the teacher.
BEFORE AFTER
Pupils will be given 5 minutes to write their observations.
After which, pupils will share their observations in class
Questions:
a. What have you learned or discover in performing the activity?
b. Is there any difference you observed from when you were much younger (before)
and what you look now (after)?
2. Presentation
Present title of the lesson and its objectives
Changes that Occur During Puberty
At the end of the lesson, pupils are expected to:
Describe the changes that occur during puberty.
C. EXPLORE
1. Developmental Activities
Teacher sets the classroom standards for the activity.
Pupils will be grouped into 2 dividing girls and boys. Girls will perform the activity
“What’s Happening to Ellie” while boys perform the activity “What’s Happening to
Tom”. Pupils will list down changes in body experienced by Ellie and Tom when they
reached 12 years old. Pupils will be given 15 minutes to do the activity.
Group 1
“What’s Happening to Ellie”
When Ellie reached 12 years old, she noticed that something has changed to her
body. What are these changes occurring? (Write your answers on the boxes provided)
Group 2
“What’s Happening to Tom”
When Tom reached 12 years old, he noticed that something has changed to his body.
What are these changes occurring? (Write your answers on the boxes provided)
Pupils will then report their answers in front.
D. EXPLAIN
These are the changes that occur during puberty for boys and girls.
Boys Girls
Adam’s apple becomes bigger Breast start to grow bigger
Voice may crack or break at certain Hips become rounded and wider
times Pubic hair starts to appear
Muscle develop Reproductive organs develop
Shoulders become broader Growth spurt at this age, girls may start

When does these changes start to happen in boys and girls?
Changes start to happen to young boys age ranges from 12 to 14 years old. Girls, on
the other hand, start to experience puberty earlier. They begin to observe changes
when they are 10 to 12 years old.
However, keep in mind that each person has different growth rate. Your growth
spurt may begin earlier than your classmates. Some may begin later than the rest of
the class. Periods of growth also differs from individuals. Some may longer or shorter
than others.
What caused these changes?
It starts in our Brain, specifically the pituitary gland which lets out pituitary
hormones to the reproductive system which causes it to release sex hormones and
bring about the changes in our body.
E. ELABORATE
