Biography

  • Tegan and Sara, the identical twins with talent and skill. The Canadian duo create unique sounds in the Indie rock, indie pop and indie folk genres oh and if that was not enough synthpop too.

Tegan and Sare began playing guitar and writing their own songs from the age of 15 and ever since then they have been making music. in 1995 they decided to form a band, this band was known as Plunk and simply consisted of the two, they in fact had no bass player or even a drummer.

In 1997, after gaining experience from recording two albums in the studio of their school, the sisters went on to enter a competition which was called "Garage Warz" where they in fact won. From this they earned studio time and recorded their first professional demo "Yellow Tape"

The duo released their first album in 1999 "Under Feet Like Ours" they also changed their name from "Sara and Tegan" to "Tegan and Sara" as they believed that it would be more memorable.

The band signed to Vapor Records later that year by 2004 the band released their fourth album "So Jealous" this was very popular and gained them success both locally and internationally. The album gained itself a 4 out of 5 star rating from Allmusic and was praised by a writer of Rolling stone.

Tegan and Sara have gone on to make many appearances both on television and in film as they have appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Late show with Conan O'Brien and Late Show with David Letterman. Tegan and Sara even co-hosted the mtvU Woodie Awards alongside rapper Machine Gun Kelly.

As of 2014 the band have released 7 albums and won themselves over 10 awards and have been nominated for many many more.

  • Without a doubt, Tegan and Sara have some of the best fans in the world. I attended my first Tegan and Sara show with people that have seen them anywhere from 2-30 times. I repeat, THIRTY times! I almost did not make it to the show, and that would have been one of my biggest mistakes. I made a point to see them while I was at Coachella although there was nothing like seeing them during their own headlining show. It is apparent they love their fans and it shows through their constant touring and over 15 years of dedication to the music. The crowd was filled with all the lovely lesbians of Las Vegas and I recall lots of make out sessions and singing along to every lyric. It was one of the first shows I went to with my lover and I am forever thankful she took me with her. I was stuck on listening to their albums right after this show and they are one of those artists that are just as good in studio as they are live. Tegan and Sara are ridiculously talented and gorgeous and they are wonderful role models to angsty ladies and guys alike.

  • Tegan and Sara's show in Dallas was the best. Music selection was great; songs flowed well. Sound quality was perfect.

Both Sara and Tegan were very entertaining: upbeat, funny and full of life -great story tellers. They also seemed at ease and comfortable on stage, enjoying themselves, and in no hurry to finish their set and get off the stage.

They gave their best effort all the time and the quality of the performance showed.

Their back up musicians were also very tight and talented. I wish Sara or Tegan would have taken a moment to introduce the band members - they deserved recognition for their performance. Maybe that just isn't done anymore, but it is a tradition that should be honored, if only for the feeling that give the members and audience of a cohesive and tight band.

  • Although I've been a fan of Tegan and Sara for years this was first time I've seen them live. Love You To Death is not just the name of their latest album and tour, it is also a message from the duo to their fans. They played a great set of both older and newer songs with the band, a more intimate feel with a few songs with just Tegan and Sara, and a bit of comedy with their stories and sisterly banter. The crowds reaction from the time Tegan and Sara took the stage to the three song encore, it's obvious the fans return the message of Love You To Death!

  • First time seeing Tegan and Sara and I was pretty impressed. What stood out to me the most was that they really seem appreciative of their fans' support. They like to chat with the fans between songs and they seem like genuinely nice people. They sound pretty darn good in concert but I am not familiar with their last two albums so I was a bit disappointed that they didn't play more of their older stuff. I know i know. They already had tours for those albums but I still really love their older songs. Anyways, they still put on a good show!

  • It is difficult to put into words the way Tegan and Sara affect you when you are standing in front of them.

It is not just the music that makes the show, it is the interaction, the banter, the teasing and the familiarity. They both wear their heart on their sleeve and I believe that is one of the many reasons that they connect to their fans so well.

The entire show will leave you breathless and pumped. Beware the post-show blues, you are going to have to fight the urge to follow them to their next show.

See you at the next show!

  • I have been to a few Tegan and Sara concerts. There is something about the fans and the atmosphere that makes you feel welcome. As others have pointed out it is clear that they really make an effort to connect with their fans.

During their onstage banter, which is very entertaining, they engage members in the audience.

Their live music is just unbelievably lit! There is not a song that I would skip over, so any set list is good with me. Enjoy!

  • I was sitting in the balcony, great sound and good size venue for the performance. The only time it was hard to hear was when they talked to the crowd. A possible improvement would be to have the orb lights pointed a little more up so it doesn't hit those in the balcony as strongly, just because it made it a little harder to watch the band play without being blinded.

  • Awesome! My wife has been a HUGE fan of theirs for years and she was so ecstatic to have been able to not only hear them speak about their new book, but be able to get a signed copy AND have a picture taken with them! To say her smile was huge would be an understatement. It was great and glad Barnes and Noble partnered with them to make that happen.

  • I had fun watching the show lastnite. Best Halloween ever, sure there was a few drunken weirdo’s in the crowd dressed up in their costumes. I didn’t mind the humour and it made me laugh. When they made fun of people in the audience. I enjoyed listening to them play the songs from their classic album the con in its own entirety.
