Philip Palmer, the Robert H. Taylor Curator and Department Head of Literary and Historical Manuscripts, takes an in-depth look at the draft manuscript and original artwork for Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's The Little Prince. Saint-Exupéry gave the manuscript to his friend and lover, the journalist Silvia Hamilton, before leaving New York in 1943 to fight in the Second World War. The manuscript documents the author’s creative process and reveals the many fascinating changes he would make to The Little Prince, one of the world’s most beloved books.
Presented in conjunction with the exhibition The Little Prince: Taking Flight.
