A heartbroken 'monogamist', a nurse who wants to be a mom and a hunky ladies' man: Meet the singles set to marry STRANGERS on the new season of Married at First Sight

  • The third season of the reality show features six singles who all signed up to wed total strangers that they would meet for the first time at the altar
  • This season sees the hit FYI series move to Atlanta, Georgia
  • All three couples from the last season of the show have now divorced

Although none of the couples from season two of Married at First Sight proved they could go the distance, the show is back for another go - this time in a new city with a whole new cast of singles ready to marry total strangers.

The reality show, produced by Kinetic Content, is moving out to Atlanta, Georgia, for its third season, where a team of experts scoured bars, dating sites, and singles meet-ups in order to source suitable candidates for the show - as well as whittling down over 20,000 applications - in order to find the perfect six cast members.

'The larger the pool of appropriate potential participants, the greater the likelihood for success,' explains psychologist Dr Joseph Cilona, one of the relationship experts responsible for pairing up suitable couples, in a preview for the upcoming season.

And after a fairly disastrous second season -which saw all three couples ending their marriages within the first year, with one even resulting in a restraining order -  the show's creators are undoubtedly hoping that their rigorous screening process will end with much more success this time around.

Though the new season isn't due to debut until December 1, the six lucky castmates have been profiled on People, revealing details about their background, their day-to-day lives - and their reasons for choosing to take part in the social experiment.

Starting off with the men, account executive David Norton, 29, is a self-described 'serial monogamist' with a heartbreaking relationship backstory.

The young man was actually about to propose to his girlfriend when, he says, she 'picked a fight' and broke up with him, blindsiding him completely.

A romantic at heart, David tells the show creators that he is looking for a girl who is 'athletic, adventurous and funny' to settle down with and start a family.

Another man keen to settle down is 31-year-old Neil Bowlus, who has a master's degree in biology and works as a compliance specialist.

Neil describes himself as active - he's an avid hiker and snowboarder, and even skydives - and is hoping to find the relationship success that his grandparents achieved through arranged marriage.

The third new cast member on the grooms' side is Tres Russell, a 27-year-old luxury car brand specialist.

Tres, a former college basketball player who was raised by his paternal grandmother and aunt, tells the show's creators that he is 'no stranger to receiving attention from women', but is ready to settle down.

He is looking for a woman who is 'fun, caring, intelligent and athletic'.

As for the blushing brides, first up is 30-year-old Ashley Doherty, a nanny who is going to school to become a nurse, having recently changed career paths from social work.

Ashley is looking for someone who is 'caring, mature and ambitious', and though she is a child of divorce, she admires her mother's relationship with her stepfather. She is also looking to start a family after she has finished her schooling.

Bank manager Sam Role, 30, is also a child of divorce, but looks to her grandparents' solid 60-year marriage as the standard to live up to.

She is an independent woman from a military family who did a lot of moving around, and is on the hunt for a 'man's man' who can keep up with her outdoorsy personality.

The last of the ladies is Vanessa Nelson, an ambitious 26-year-old working in corporate events management. Coming from yet another divorced family, Vanessa says she hasn't spoken to her father since she was in high school.

The young lady is a travel nut and writer who also loves playing the hostess at home.

While the specific pairings have yet to be revealed, the new season of the reality show will begin with a two-hour premiere episode on December 1.

The show will be looking to prove itself after the explosive, vitriolic ending of the three marriages created last season.

News broke this summer that last-season cast member Jessica Castro, 30, had filed for a restraining order against her husband Ryan De Nino, 29, after claiming he had threatened her life and that of her family.

Another couple Davina Kullar, 34, and her husband Sean Varricchio, 35, split after six after failing to consummate their marriage and ended with Sean calling Davina 'rude' and 'egocentric'.

The third couple Jaclyn Methuen, 30, and Ryan Ranellone, 29, who seemed the most likely to succeed also confirmed their split after the season, with Jaclyn saying later at the reunion episode that: 'It's too late now. He didn't put any effort into it and that's it'.
