‘I think I’m gonna die': Young father, 19, is 'accidently' shot in the head – as police charge another teenager over the wounding

A man faced court on Saturday for a charge of reckless wounding after police claim he ‘accidentally’ shot his friend in the head in west Sydney.
Christopher Parfitt, a 19-year-old father of a nine-month old girl, was shot on the right side of his face by a low-calibre bullet around 10:30pm Friday on Captain Cook Drive, Willmot, a suburb 52km west from Sydney CBD.
Mr Parfitt is in critical but stable condition after he was rushed to Westmead Hospital.

‘He was laying on the ground, sitting up kind of thing but he was saying, ‘tell my mum I love her’ and ‘I think I’m gonna die’ and ‘keep me talking,’ Steve, a witness to the shooting, said in a 9News video.
Mr Parfitt’s family said that before the shooting he was drinking at a nearby park with friends before walking down Captain Cook Dr.
‘I think they grabbed the shirt out of one of the cars that was parked on the side of the road and put it around his head and were trying to talk him through it – they were all in a panic,’ Steve said.

The alleged shooter, who is also 19-years-old, was arrested shortly after Mr Parfitt was shot and faced court on Saturday
The alleged shooter, who is also 19-years-old, was arrested shortly after Mr Parfitt was shot and was questioned by police.
He was refused bail and appeared in Parramatta Local Court on Saturday, police said.
Mr Parfitt’s younger brother Michael, 16, underwent surgery nine months ago in a knife attack but it not known if the shooting was related, according to The Daily Telegraph.

Forensic police, investigators and police dogs searched the residential area where the shooting took place on Friday night.
