House explosion kills one

At least one person was killed when an explosion ripped though a house today.
Gas engineers were at the scene of the blast in North Shields, North Tyneside, and the area has been cordoned off while the cause is investigated.
Two other people were taken to hospital for treatment for minor injuries after the explosion, shortly after 7.30am this morning.
Northumbria Police confirmed one person had died and two others had been injured.
A spokeswoman said properties in streets surrounding the house have been evacuated.
Roads have been cordoned off and people have been advised to stay away from the immediate area.
The spokeswoman added: "We can confirm that one person has died although we are not able to release anything further about their identity at this time.
"We can also confirm that two people were taken to North Tyneside General Hospital for treatment for cuts and shock.
"The explosion is still being investigated and we are not speculating about a possible cause.
"Gas board engineers are at the scene."
