A man almost had his ear cut off as he defended his friend from a gang of men wielding hedge clippers in a terrifying home invasion.
The 22-year-old known as Joey was at his friend Jason Mounaniss' house in Emerton, Western Sydney, on Saturday night when the group approached them.
The pair retreated to the house but the attackers forced their way inside and attacked them with the hedge clippers, a clock, and other weapons.

Joey suffered a partially severed ear and severe cuts to his hands from the hedge clippers and was rushed to Westmead Hospital.
'Eight people versus one is really scary,' Mr Mounaniss, who was tended to at the scene by paramedics but relatively uninjured, told Seven News.
The 20-year-old said he knew one of the men and the attack was likely in retaliation for a previous dispute and he was worried they would come back.

Mr Mounaniss said after the group left the house on Popondetta Road they damaged his car outside by jumping on it.
A 54-year-old man was charged with wounding, intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and aggravated breaking and entering with violent intent.
He was refused bail and will face Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday.
