Couple 'kidnapped and bashed an elderly woman, 68 - before driving her across Sydney and dumping her at a home in harrowing 14-HOUR ordeal'

A 68-year-old woman who was allegedly kidnapped in Sydney's northwest has been taken to hospital, suffering a possible fractured rib and lacerations to her face and body.

Police allege a 39-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman took the 68-year-old woman from a home in Cherrybrook about 3am on Sunday. 

The man is accused of injuring the woman's face while physically assaulting her in her bedroom.

The elderly woman, who was known to her alleged kidnappers, was taken to a home in Naremburn before being left at a Mosman home, where she told the resident to call the police. 

The man and woman were arrested at a Naremburn home just before 5pm on Sunday.  

They have been charged with several offences, including taking and detaining for advantage and were refused bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court on Monday. 

The elderly woman was treated for her injuries at The Royal North Shore Hospital
