The man who allegedly held up two Perth banks has been revealed as the boss of a collapsed contracting company that reportedly owed creditors millions.

Anthony Joseph Sita, 46, allegedly stole 24,000 from NAB's Innaloo branch last Wednesday using only a note.

He also is accused of unsuccessfully attempting to rob the ANZ in Bull Creek two days later.

Mr Sita threatened to kill staff if they did not listen to his demands, it was revealed in court.

In both incidents he wore sunglasses and a hat and informed tellers with a note he was armed with a shotgun, it is alleged.

Police arrested Mr Sita at his home on Tuesday.

He did not apply for bail during an appearance at Perth Magistrates Court, Perth Now reported.

Mr Sita was the director at Civils WA, a contracting company that collapsed in 2017, owing creditors millions.

He blamed a construction company for the collapse and was pursuing legal action against them, 9 News reported.

Mr Sita is due to face court again on March 14.
