Stephen A. Smith has appeared to call Jason Whitlock 'a fat b***ard' who he despises to the core.
It comes after Marcellus Wiley, who has worked alongside Smith and Whitlock, called Smith 'a hypocrite' and accused Smith of pushing him out of ESPN because he was intimidated by his intelligence.
Addressing the row on his Stephen A. Smith show, the First Take host refused to mention Whitlock by name but made it very clear who he was referring to.
'There's a lot of people out there who want me to address other names. There's one particular person who will remain nameless but I will not deny it - I think he is a fat, no-good b***ard who I despise to the core,' Smith said.
'But it doesn't mean that I wish him harm. It is not Marcellus Wiley that I am talking about. It ain't hard to figure out who I am talking about.

Whitlock has previously spoken out and criticized Smith on his own show - Fearless
'But even then I don't wish him harm. Even though he has made a career out of wishing others the worst. And no, I'm not talking about Marcellus Wiley again. I'm not talking about my former colleagues on First Take.
'No, not talking about them. They ain't fat b***ards who are seeds of the devil, wishing nothing but black folks harm. But I will leave that for another day when the time is right.'
The comments underneath Smith's YouTube segment are in no doubt that he is referring to Whitlock, with several viewers insisting his comments are about him. The clip also went viral across X with fans saying that he is talking about Whitlock.
Whitlock is renowned for his controversial opinions and has criticized Smith in times gone by. He has also aired many polarizing views on racial dynamics in the United States.
Whitlock is open about his religion, with the first word in his Twitter bio saying that he is a Christian. He often refers to God and his religion when airing his opinion on events.
He recently targeted Shannon Sharpe, Smith's First Take co-host, and told him to stop being 'a woman' when talking about his exit from rival show Undisputed.
Sharpe opened up on his split with Undisputed's Skip Bayless to Smith in September and said that Bayless didn't respect him.
Whitlock replied, on his own show: 'Respect, that's a female emotion, a female energy. That's why Aretha Franklin sang about it.
'As a man, regardless of color, you are supposed to be about winning the respect of God.
'Once your focus is there, the respect or lack-there-of from men will not trigger you, won't make you emotional, won't make you want to pick up a gun because someone disrespected you, won't make you lose your cool on television because someone who really doesn't matter didn't respect you.
'Don't be a woman, be a man. Be about winning the respect of God and dismissing the people who disrespect you here on this planet.'
Whitlock has yet to reply to Smith's remarks but it would be out of character for them to be ignored entirely.
