Dog lover Miley Cyrus introduces her new Rough Collie puppy Emu to fans...three months after the death of her Alaskan Klee Kai

She was devastated after her three-year-old Alaskan Klee Kai named Floyd was killed by a coyote in April.

And nearly three months later, Miley Cyrus has welcomed a new puppy into her Studio City home this week - a Rough Collie called 'Emu Coyne Cyrus.'

The 21-year-old pop star even took a shower with the adorable herding dog, which was originally made popular by Lassie.

'He's here and here to stay! I welcomed Emu Coyne Cyrus into the family a couple days ago,' Cyrus wrote of her 'secret' adoption.

'It's taken some time to be ready for this next step and loving again...I'm blissed the out right now. I feel like this is a new beginning in so many ways.'

The Golden Globe nominee has previously adopted all of her dogs from the Spot! Pet Boutique in Los Angeles, aside from one which she found in a Walmart car-park.

Emu joins Miley's three other canine children - a b&w Pitt Bull called Mary Jane, a Rottweiler-beagle mix called Happy, and a Chihuahua mix called Bean.

The Wrecking Ball hitmaker believed Floyd's angel gave Emu 'his blessing' and she lights a candle every morning on his shrine, which always has fresh flowers.

'The energy around the altar is so powerfully full of love,' the dog lover wrote.

The former country crooner was publicly more upset about Floyd than when she split with her fiancé Liam Hemsworth in September after a four-year romance.

Last year, Miley's Yorkshire Terrier Lila was tragically killed by her Liam's English Bulldog Ziggy, who was sent to an animal shelter for placement in a dog and child-free home.

Cyrus - enjoying a five-week break from touring - revealed she'd tour the world forever if it weren't for her beloved pets.

'They make you quarantine [pets] before you can bring them into other countries,' she lamented to 2Day FM's Sophie Monk.
