Explaining his bad habits: Nicholas Brendon shared his troubled past including sexual abuse and depression during a Skype interview with TMZ on Monday (pictured in his third mugshot after getting arrested in Tallahassee, Florida on Friday)
'I'm a survivor of sexual abuse when I was a kid it's just something you're embarrassed of and I've never really talked about it,' he explained in a video conference call with the gossip site.
'The man who molested me went to jail for five years when I was a kid. I've never really wrapped my mind around that and I think it's time to start,' he continued.
'I've been battling a lot of depression during all my life and I've been handling it the wrong way.'

On March 13, Nicholas caused a raucous scene at Hotel Duval in Tallahassee when police were informed by the managerial staff that 'a celebrity guest had taken pills and alcohol while he had been at the hotel and was walking around the hotel with blood on him and his clothes torn and wet.'
And one month prior, he was arrested for causing about $450 damage to another Florida hotel room just days after announcing the end of his four month marriage to Moonda Tee as well as being charged with felony grand theft and criminal mischief.
In October 2014, the former Criminal Minds star was also behind bars for a similar drunken incident at a hotel in Boise, Idaho.
'When the depression comes you try to block it out any way you can and there's a better way of doing it and first of all for me I just really need to start talking about it,' he told TMZ.

His first incident: The star was also behind bars for a similar drunken incident at a hotel in Boise, Idaho on October 17, 2014

His acting heyday: Nicholas starred as Xander Harris in Buffy The Vampire Slayer from 1996 - 2003 along with co-stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz
'It's time to start dealing with it and well stop being a jerk about it. I don't want to complain, it's embarrassing, it's really embarrassing thing to talk about and it's time to stop thinking that it's embarrassing.'
Adding: 'I've been to rehab before and I get sober for a long periods of time and then this depression sets in and I don't talk to anyone about it. My actions are more than embarrassing.'
Following his second arrest in February, Nicholas' rep put it best: 'Nicholas is unfortunately battling a disease that many of us don't understand.'
