'It's Ser-sha like inertia': Ryan Gosling presents Saoirse Ronan with Hollywood Film Award... and explains how to pronounce her name
Ryan Gosling presented actress Saoirse Ronan with the New Hollywood Award for her performance in her film Brooklyn.
The 34-year-old took to the podium at the Hollywood Film Awards on Sunday at The Beverly Hilton Hotel to talk about the young actress, before presenting her with the award.
The actor called the 21-year-old starlet 'not only one of my favorite actresses,' but also 'one of my favorite people.'

The Notebook actor started: 'There was a little controversy in giving her this award and no it wasn't how to pronounce her name, although since we're all here, i though we could just go over it.'
Wearing a black suit, white shirt and orange striped tie, the rugged star explained to the audience the correct pronunciation of the Ireland-raised starlet's name.
'It's not Say-or-see or Seer-say or Sor-cery but it probably should be...it's Ser-sha like inertia.'
Ryan incorrectly stated her last name, saying, 'Ser-sha Rohan,' after which the actress, who wore a loose gold dress layered over a white shirt, walked up to him and whispered the correction into his ear.

'I was a child actor too...I was a back up dancer for my Elvis impersonating uncle and she was nominated for an Academy Award,' he joked.
He closed out his speech, finishing it off: 'Her performance in her new film, Brooklyn, is so powerful and so beautiful, she just had to be awarded with something.'
Brooklyn is a film about a young immigrant girl, Ellis Lacey (played by Saoirse), who has to choose between the US and her home country, Ireland, during the 1950's.
