'I never wanted it to be over!' Teri Hatcher declares she wants Desperate Housewives to return... and dispels any rumours that she and the rest of the cast fell out

It went off the air in 2012 after eight seasons.

But in this climate of TV reboots [Will & Grace, Rosanne] it seems that Teri Hatcher would be up for Desperate Housewives to return to screens.

The 53-year-old actress - in London to promote the Celebrity Great British Bake Off - told Loose Women on Wednesday that she'd jump at the chance to go back to Wisteria Lane.

'I’d be the first person [to return],' she exclaimed. 'I never wanted it to be over. I love those characters.'

Teri played Susan Mayer on the hit American drama which saw her return to a regular TV show for the first time since her role as Lois Lane on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman.

But despite her enthusiasm to once again embody the role of famously scatty Susan, she said the chances of a comeback are 'not very good'.

'Just because of the creators. It’s not the women. I think the women would probably all do it.'

Teri was said to have fallen out with the other principal cast members - Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria - during production, eventually ending things on a sour note.

But while these reports have mostly been conjecture, Teri's enthusiasm to work with them again - and her belief that they would all be willing to come back - suggests otherwise.

But when asked if she stays in touch with the rest of the cast, Teri said: 'Not so much, but definitely supportive of everything that we’re all off and doing.

'Very exciting Eva’s about to have her first baby!'

Whether a reboot of the iconic series would even be doable is questionable, given that the series finale flashed forward into the future, saw the housewives gradually depart Wisteria Lane and go their separate ways.

Teri can often be seen on her social media platforms cooking - which has led to her current appearance on Bake Off.

'When they asked me to do it I was so excited, my daughter and I are huge fans!' enthused Teri - who is mother to Emerson Rose Tenney, her daughter with ex husband actor Jon Tenney. 'We watch it on Netflix so we get it after you guys. But I’ve been known to watch it all weekend. It’s the exact opposite of that kind of snarky, mean spirited reality TV.

'I think of myself more as a chef, but I do bake pies and muffins. I’m not allowed to tell you what happens [on the show] but I think I can tell you I didn’t poison anyone.'

She gushed about taking part, adding: 'It was the best experience. We all got along so well. Everyone in that white tent. I was a little intimidated by Paul [Hollywood] and I think he wants us to be scared of him.'

Of the famed GBBO critique 'soggy bottom', Teri laughed: 'Soggy bottom doesn’t really translate [in the United States]. Well it does, because even in America you’re pretty sure that you don’t want one.'

As well as her YouTube cookery, the former Bond Girl drives around in a van in her spare time, trying to help random people.

'I wanted to create a cool place where I could talk to strangers about everything!' she explained.

The actress also spoke to the Loose Women ladies about their favourite topic: the menopause.

'My daughter is 20 and she’s at college. The second she left I took off my clothes, lit a joint and ran around the house,' she joked.
