- Emilia Clarke stars opposite Kit Harington on the hit HBO show Game of Thrones
- Their characters, Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow, linked up in season seven
- Their alliance has since taken a turn for the romantic, which Emilia finds strange
- Game of Thrones will return to HBO for an eighth and final installment in 2019
- WARNING: Game of Thrones spoilers ahead
After filming together for seven years, Game of Thrones stars Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington have forged quite a friendship.
Their real life relationship complicates the on-screen one between characters Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow a bit, however.
Emilia, 31, recently admitted that it's not easy to shoot sex scenes with someone she's so close with.
Emilia Clarke recently opened up about what it's like to film sex scenes with Kit Harington on Game of Thrones
Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones, says she's too close with Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, for intimate scenes not to be 'weird'
'We'll end up kissing and then we're just p***ing ourselves with laughter because it's so ridiculous,' she told Vanity Fair.
It doesn't help that Emilia is also close with Kit's girlfriend, a former Game of Thrones actress, Rose Leslie. She played Ygritte on the series until her character, who happened to be a love interest of Jon's as well.
Emilia admitted: 'I'll tell him, "Kit, stop being a d*** — stop being so grumpy," like I would my brother.
'If you've known someone for six years, and they're best friends with your girlfriend, and you're best friends with them, there is something unnatural and strange about doing a love scene.'
Where does Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow's (Kit Harington) love story fit in to the storyline on Game of Thrones? Here's what you need to know.
Daenerys Targaryen Jon Snow
Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow finally met in season seven of Game of Thrones. Until then, the pair had been living in two different worlds, essentially.
In the penultimate season, Daenerys, her hand Tyrian Lannister (Peter Dinklage), her scribe Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel) and her army travel to Dragonstone, the abandoned city from which her family hails.
While there, they begin plotting their next moves. Daenerys has been on the move for seasons, making her way toward King's Landing so she can take the Iron Throne.
Early in the season she was visited by Jon Snow, who is one of few people who has seen the Night King (Richard Blake), an undead general who has been leading a fierce army of ice zombies that want to take over the Seven Kingdoms.
He managed to convince her to join his fight and the pair set out to shrink the Night King's army with some help from Daenerys's dragons.
Through all of this, Daenerys remained focused on her goal of taking the Iron Throne back from Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey). Jon spent much of the season trying to convince her to focus on the white walkers to no avail.
Their alliance brought them closer and closer together until eventually their cordial co-leadership turned into something romantic. The problem?
Jon's been blissfully unaware that he and Daenerys are related. His father is her eldest brother, Rhaegar Targaryen.
The only person with any knowledge of who Jon truly is is Samwell Tarley (John Bradley), who left the Night's Watch for maester school in Oldtown. He learned of Jon's lineage in season seven of Game of Thrones, however, and will hopefully reach him by season eight.
Game of Thrones Season 8 spoilers
Very little is known about season eight of Game of Thrones at this point. HBO has, as usual, been very careful not to allow too many spoilers to get out.
They've even gone as far as filming several endings so even that cast doesn't know how the show will conclude.
During her interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Emilia Clarke said: 'I know everything, well, kind of, sort of, I do.
'I know plenty. I know enough. I think they're doing loads of stuff and they're not even telling us because they don't trust us and rightly so.'
She offered only the following about the Game of Thrones series finale in her interview with Vanity Fair, however: 'It f***ed me up. Knowing that is going to be a lasting flavor in someone's mouth of what Daenerys is...'
Although Emilia and other stars have been tight-lipped about how Game of Thrones will end, a few tidbits of information have managed to slip through the cracks via interviews and eagle-eyed fans in filming locations.
Nathalie Emmanuel, who plays Daenerys's scrib Missandei on the show told Metro this of the finale season: 'It is survival of the fittest.
'There's only a few left standing — anyone and everyone can die.'
She couldn't reveal anymore, but we've managed to scrape together a few things that will probably come to fruition in season eight.
For one, Game of Thrones fans can expect to see Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) set out to rescue sister Yara Greyjoy (Gemma Whalen) from their evil uncle Euron (Pilous Asbaek).
There will also likely be some drama surrounding the race for the Iron Throne. Unless, of course, Jon can convince Cersei, Daenerys and everyone else vying for the seat to focus on the bigger picture — if they can't defeat the Night King, there will be no kingdoms to preside over.
Whatever happens in Kings Landing, it's going to be explosive — literally. Photos from that particular Game of Thrones filming location show pyrotechnics in place, suggested a fiery battle is going to go down in Cersei and Jaime Lannister's (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) hometown.
Lannister banners can be seen hanging on the set, but not the banners of their opposition. There are very few houses Cersei hasn't upset in her quest for power, so it could be anyone.
