Blacks rules Melbourne Fashion Fest show
In what has to be said is predictable Melbourne style, black has dominated the catwalk at the city's premier fashion event.
Scanlan Theodore opened the Melbourne Fashion Festival runway show on Monday with an all black brigade, with looks including a chic biker jacket paired with a slinky, long fitted dress and leather gloves, as well as a strapless feathered dress.
The Camilla and Marc collection also focused on black and white looks but did feature a striking plum silk dress and muted shades of blue.
US-based Australian label Tome provided a welcome shot of playful colour, with a gleaming metallic orange trench worn over bright pink culottes, as well as a one-shouldered pleated rust coloured maxi dress and a pale blue shirt paired with a sweet three-quarter length pleated pink skirt.
The show followed the announcement of Victorian designers Amanda Cumming and Kate Reynolds, behind the label Pageant, as winners of the National Designer Award.
