Credit Suisse CEO: will ensure the merger is completed

ZURICH, April 4 (Reuters) - Standing in front of a room full of shareholders for the final time, Credit Suisse's Chief Executive on Tuesday expressed his sadness over the bank's demise which led it to being taken over by rival UBS , according to a manuscript of his speech.

"Unfortunately, we didn't succeed. We ran out of time. This fills me with sorrow. What has happened over the past few weeks will continue to affect me personally and many others for a long time to come," Ulrich Koerner said according to the script.

Koerner who led the bank for less than a year said the takeover by Switzerland's biggest bank was the only feasible option for Credit Suisse according to the script.

"I will do everything in my power to ensure that the merger is completed, to fully realise the great potential of the merged bank."
