Motivation
[edit]The Metropolitan Museum of Art (Q160236) tracks constituents (artist, institution, entity, etc.) in its collections database using well-maintained unique IDs. Synchronizing them with Wikidata via an external ID benefits both sides, by supporting unambiguous and precise attribution. This also benefits Wikidata by providing aliases and helping to complete the coverage of artists and creators by using more than 20,000 constituents that the Met has, but are missing from Wikidata. - Support Will be good when the Met can provide linkable URLs for them; but worth having the property anyway Jheald (talk) 17:15, 10 July 2022 (UTC)
- Comment I think it is rare to have a property whose subject item (represents) is an item for the ID. Shouldn't the subject item be the Metropolitan Museum of Art (Q160236)? The property shouldn't represent the ID, it should represent the agency maintaining the identifier, shouldn't it? UWashPrincipalCataloger (talk) 00:52, 25 July 2022 (UTC)
- Comment Oh, now I see that there is an item for Metropolitan Museum of Art Constituent Database (Q106729628). That is what the subject item property should point to. I'll create the property now using it. UWashPrincipalCataloger (talk) 00:54, 25 July 2022 (UTC)
