Actress Shirley MacLaine, 90, has revealed her secret to a long life - and it's an herb that Meghan Markle once tried to give to a sick Prince William.

In a new interview with People, Billy Eichner explained that MacLaine had shared her longevity secret with him while they worked together on the 2019 Christmas movie Noelle.

Eichner said that MacLaine tip to living longer was to 'put a drop of oil of oregano under your tongue every day.'

However, when asked if he had adapted the practice into his daily life, Eichner had a surprising confession.

'I bought it, but I never did it,' the Billy on the Street host admitted.

Oil of oregano, which is derived from the oregano plant, can have a number of different benefits, according to Healthline.

Some tout it as a natural antibiotic, according to the outlet, due to an ingredient it contains called carvacrol, which can help fight bacteria.

In addition, the publication said oil of oregano can potentially lower cholesterol, relieve pain, and balance your gut health. It also has anti-inflammatory properties.

And it looks like MacLaine isn't the only celebrity to use it, as the Duchess of Sussex once offered Prince William oil of oregano when he came down with a cold.

Prince Harry spoke about Markle's moving gesture in his 2023 memoir, Spare.

The British Royal Family member said that when they had Prince William and Princess Kate over for dinner once, his brother was 'sneezing and coughing,' per Newsweek.

And when the Suits star noticed that he was sick, she recommended that he try the herb.

'Meg ran upstairs to get him some of her homeopathic cure-alls - oregano oil, turmeric,' Prince Harry penned.

While Prince Harry said his brother seemed impressed by the remedies, his wife reportedly wasn't.

'He seemed charmed, moved, though Kate announced to the table that he'd never take such unconventional remedies,' the Duke of Sussex wrote.

King Charles has backed homeopathic medicine numerous times over the years.

In 1993, as Prince of Wales, he founded the Foundation for Integrated Health to explore the combination of 'safe, proven complementary therapies' with modern medicine.

His Health and Wellbeing Centre at Dumfries House in Ayreshire provides a range of alternative treatments including reflexology, acupuncture and hypnotherapy.

In 2020, Prince Harry and Markle stepped down from their roles as senior royals and moved to Montecito, California.

Since then, they have embarked on other ventures, including a Netflix docuseries about their love story and exiting Britain, titled Meghan & Harry.

In recent months, rumors have swirled that Markle may be planning a comeback to the wellness and influencer scene, reminiscent of her early days blogging for her website, The Tig.

She is currently attempting to trademark her long-awaited lifestyle brand, American Riveria Orchard.

Last year, DailyMail.com revealed that the brand will sell vegetable-based spreads, 'edible oils,' and fruit preserves.

In April, the mother-of-two sent out PR packages to her famous pals such as Kris Jenner and Mindy Kaling that contained a jar of American Riveria Orchard-branded strawberry jam.

And although some of her famous friends were able to get their hands on the jam, it has not yet launched to the public.
