Ajax captain Jordan Henderson clashed with a Dutch journalist in a remarkable exchange at a press conference after Sunday's 2-1 win over Feyenoord.

The game itself was pretty dramatic, with Kenneth Taylor scoring a 94th-minute winner. However, the real fireworks came later.

Henderson - who had played the full 90 minutes - took issue with one journalist for asking him to elaborate on recent reports that he had tried to force through a move to AS Monaco.

It was reported earlier in the week that Henderson had threatened to refuse to play for the club again if Ajax did not agree a deal with the French Ligue 1 outfit.

The story took another twist on Thursday night when Henderson played 77 minutes in Ajax's 2-1 win over Galatasaray in the Europa League - but not as captain. However, he wore the captain's armband again on Sunday.

After Sunday's game, Henderson faced the media and things got real frosty, real fast.

Henderson was asked: 'Can you say, Jordan, why you wanted to make a transfer to Monaco?'

After staring back at the journalist, an aggravated Henderson replied: 'Based on what, again?'

Henderson and the reporter then went back and forth for almost two minutes, during which the ex-England star said that claims he had told the coach he wanted to leave because Monaco had made him a 'big offer' were 'not true.'

Towards the end of the press conference, Henderson delivered a defiant speech.

He said: 'There are people sitting in this room who questioned my professionalism, it's bang out of order. My family had to read nonsense from you.'

Reporter: 'Can you say, Jordan, why you wanted to make a transfer to Monaco?'

Henderson: 'Based on what, again?'

Reporter: 'The coach just told us you wanted to go to Monaco.'

Henderson: 'The coach told you that I wanted to go to Monaco?'

Reporter: 'Yeah, because you had a big offer.'

Henderson: 'Because I had a big offer? It's not true.'

Reporter: 'Then you have to tell the coach it's not true.'

Henderson: 'Yeah.'

Reporter: 'OK. But did Ajax tell you they wanted to sell you?'

Henderson: 'Did Ajax say they wanted to sell us? Well, they were negotiating, so I would imagine they did, yeah.'

Reporter: 'They were negotiating with Monaco?'

Henderson: 'For a fee, yeah.'

Reporter: 'You wanted to transfer for free?'

Henderson: 'No, no, no. They were negotiating the fee. But, again, Mike, it's not about the details. I'm not giving you details. I know the truth. I know what happened. I'm not here to tell you details. I'm just here to tell you, from my side...'

Reporter: 'You say it's not true. Can you give details?'

Henderson: 'No, I don't need to. I don't need to. You can, though. It sounds like you can anyway.'

Reporter: 'I think you read it.'

Henderson: 'Eh? Yeah, yeah. And it was untrue.'

Reporter: 'What was untrue, please?'

Henderson: '99 per cent of it.'

Reporter: 'Yeah, but what? Give an example.'

Henderson: 'What part? The bit before the game or the bit after?'

Reporter: 'How did he convince you to stay?'

Henderson: 'It wasn't him. And he didn't need to convince us.'

Reporter: 'Who convinced you to stay?'

Henderson: 'Nobody convinced me. Again, you're going into the detail. It's not about the detail.'

Reporter: 'But you know the details. Give us the details. If you tell us it's not true...'

Henderson: 'No, no, no, no. I don't need to. I don't need to sit here and defend...'

Reporter: 'Can you imagine that people thought that you wanted to force a transfer?'

Henderson: 'But why did they think that?'

Reporter: 'Because of your behaviour on Thursday - not being a captain, not celebrating the second goal...'

Henderson: 'Yeah, but you don't know the information. I've just explained this.'

Reporter: 'Not thanking the crowd...'

Henderson: 'I clapped the crowd when I went off.'

Ajax press officer: 'You made your point about this. Is there anyone who would like to talk about the game today or maybe looking forward to the next one?'
