Several fans have expressed concern over Marcus Rashford appearing 'unhealthy' at his Aston Villa unveiling, having completed his loan exit from Manchester United on Sunday night.

The 27-year-old footballer, who revealed earlier this month his wish to leave Old Trafford in a bombshell interview, has since been exiled by Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim, absent from United's last eight games in all competitions.

Despite attracting interest from Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund, Rashford sealed his loan switch to Aston Villa on the eve of January's transfer deadline day, with a £40million buy option included in the deal at the end of the season.

Given Rashford has been viewed as one of Manchester United's star players after emerging through their academy to chalk up over 400 club appearances, the past month has proved challenging for the former England international.

The forward has been frequently criticised by both fans and pundits for his attitude on and off the pitch, weighed down by the responsibility of being one of the Red Devils' most senior players and highest earners.

A handful of supporters expressed concern after what has been a difficult period for Rashford

Before his exit to Aston Villa, Amorim publicly questioned Rashford's lifestyle and commitment and warned the star he must change if he were to have any hope of breaking back into his plans. 

A handful of supporters expressed concern over Rashford's appearance after the deal was announced, commenting on how he looked 'rough' and 'unhealthy' during his photoshoot with Aston Villa. 

Reacting to the unveiling, one fan posted on X: 'Does not look healthy. Wouldn't have even put this photo out if I was Villa media/comms (and would even go as far as to wonder if manager or head of recruitment thought twice about completing the deal). A graphic until such times as a respectable photo could be taken.'

'Looks rough man, hope he does well,' a second added.

'Someone's missed some training,' another jokingly claimed. 

A fourth simply posted: 'He does not want to be there.'

Another supporter chimed in and said: 'Mans looks like he’s been going through it.'

'It can’t be just me who thinks he looks like he’s just rolled out of bed after a rough night out,' a person also claimed on social media. 'The guy looks washed up. He’s put on some weight, hasn’t had a fresh trim.'

Just days earlier, Rashford cut a relaxed figure in training with his Manchester United team-mates, smiling through his difficult period off the pitch by appearing to knuckle down and remain fully focused at Carrington.

Former Manchester United star Mikael Silvestre criticised Amorim over his treatment of Rashford this week, claiming the manager's decision to leave him completely in the cold was 'disrespectful' after his nine years at the club.

Confirming his exit on Sunday, Rashford said in a statement: 'I would like to thank Manchester United and Aston Villa for making this loan deal happen.

'I was lucky to have a few clubs approach me but Aston Villa was an easy decision - I really admire the way that Aston Villa have been playing this season, and the managers' ambitions. I just want to play football and am excited to get started.'

'I wish everyone at Manchester United all the best for the rest of the season.'

Despite many supporters raising concern over his appearance, several more expressed excitement over the move, claiming it is the exact change Rashford needs to revive his career.

'Got a feeling this is going to work out amazing,' one fan posted with a star struck emoji. 

'Prime Rashford incoming,' another said.

Villa's need for attacking reinforcements was sparked by Jhon Duran completing a £65m move to Al-Nassr earlier this week.

Meanwhile, Ollie Watkins - who has bagged 11 goals this season - suffered an injury scare on Saturday night and was subbed off at half-time in Villa's 2-0 defeat at Wolves.

Man United's search for a Rashford replacement hit a stumbling block on Sunday evening after talks with Bayern Munich over Mathys Tel fell through.

United were given encouragement that the 19-year old wanted to join them but they have been unable to find a solution with Bayern over a loan deal and payment terms and a resolution is now considered 'unlikely'.

United maintain an interest in Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku but that is considered difficult also at this stage and other options are being explored.
