Aaron Rodgers block stuns fans across the NFL moments before New York Jets score touchdown

There is huge uncertainty over Aaron Rodgers' future at the New York Jets but nobody can question his commitment for the time being.

Playing the day before his 41st birthday, with his team's postseason hopes hanging by a thread, Rodgers arrived at MetLife needing to deliver against the Seattle Seahawks.

And judging by the first quarter, Rodgers was ready to step up to the mark - and not just with this throwing. He put himself in the line of fire and risked injuring himself in an eye-catching moment early on in the game.

With the score 0-0 and just under five minutes left in the first quarter, Rodgers offloaded the ball to Malachi Corley before following his run and risking injury by throwing a huge block on Josh Jobe to protect his teammate.

Replays show Jobe and Rodgers' helmets colliding with a huge thud but the Jets quarterback took it in his stride, even appearing to have a few words for Jobe in the aftermath.

Moments later, Rodgers picked out his old friend Davante Adams for a touchdown as the Jets took the lead but it was the earlier play from the quarterback that left Jets fans stunned.

'All of a sudden Rodgers is playing like he's 25 years of age' one fan wrote, while another just said: 'Aaron Rodgers the lead blocker?!'

Even a disgruntled Jets fan was impressed when he wrote: 'I’m so out on this team, but I do appreciate Aaron Rodgers showing he does at least give a little slice of s*** with that block.'

Another take read: 'We are getting a different Aaron Rodgers today... This man is out here leading the way blocking... I LOVE IT'

A different fan said: 'Aaron Rodgers going out to block for a 3-8 disaster of a team, I respect that 100%.'

There was, understandably, a word of warning from some fans though. One replied to the official Jets feed about the play by saying: 'Not a good idea to do that again though. Are the coaches trying to injure him?'

Moments after Adams got the Jets on the board, Isaiah Davies scored the second touchdown of the day for his team, giving them a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

But from there, the Jets imploded and lost 26-21 in a result that all but ends their hopes of the postseason.
