Washington Commanders safety Jeremy Reaves followed up their playoff-clinching win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night by getting down on one knee and proposing to his girlfriend.

After a vital 30-24 overtime victory sealed the Commanders' first playoff berth since 2020, Reaves ensured there were double celebrations in Washington when he popped the all-important question to partner Mikaela Worley on the side of the field.

A stunned Mikaela became visibly emotional before joining her NFL-star beau down on one knee and accepting his proposal, leading to joyous scenes as the onlooking crowd celebrated their engagement.

'Of course she said yes! You're in the playoffs now,' NBC's Mike Tirico said.

Reaves' teammates were over the moon for their good friend and his now-fiancee, who was later seen showing off her ring and hugging Commanders punter Tress Way before making her way down the tunnel.

Jeremy and Mikaela - who is a Physician Assistant from Florida - have been dating for around 18 months after first going public in the summer of 2023.

She has been a regular at his NFL games both at home and on the road during their relationship, most recently making the 2,500-mile trip to watch him play in New Orleans.

Reaves, 28, is currently in his sixth season with the Commanders after being elevated to their active roster back in 2019.

After a total of 60 appearances, he has registered 126 tackles while becoming a First-team All-Pro and Pro-Bowler back in 2022.

The former South Alabama star was undrafted as a free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018 before being waived shortly after.

Reaves' engagement news only adds to a historic night for the Commanders, who are back in the playoffs for the first time in four years.

They needed a second-half comeback and overtime against the Falcons to secure a postseason place. Yet with rookie sensation Jayden Daniels pulling the strings, Washington pulled it off.

Daniels finished the game with 24 completions on 36 attempts for 227 yards and three touchdowns. On the ground, Daniels had 16 carries for 127 rushing yards.

He also surpassed another Washington rookie phenom, Robert Griffin III, to set the NFL rookie record for rushing yards by a quarterback. With one game remaining in the regular season, Daniels has 864 rushing yards.

The Commanders' last playoff victory was on the road against the Buccaneers when Daniels was barely 5 years old.

Washington could move up to the No 6 seed in the NFC with a Packers loss in Week 18 and a victory over the Cowboys.

The Falcons have lost control of their playoff destiny, needing a Buccaneers Week 18 loss and a victory themselves to make the postseason.
