Tim Lovejoy had to jump in and apologise for a guest who dropped an expletive while appearing on this week's episode of Sunday Brunch during its live broadcast.

The TV host, 56, was left red-faced after American actor Billy Porter dropped a swear word during a game they were playing on the Channel 4 programme.

It happened as Billy, 55, joked about which roundtable guest had a past as a sofa salesman before making it in showbusiness.

Billy attempted to trick the others into believing that he had sold sofas himself before finding fame, but co-host Simon Rimmer said he didn't believe him.

Billy exclaimed: 'Oh s***!'

The other guests looked shocked and awkwardly smile, before Tim said: 'Apologies for any bad language that anybody heard there.'

Viewers didn't miss the moment and took to X, saying: 'Looking amazing and cursing like a trooper on live TV. Billy Porter is a star! #SundayBrunch.'

And: 'It's ok no one is offended....as no one is watching! #sundaybrunch'; 'Anyone else notice Billy swearing?'.

Billy was joined by Marisha Wallace as the pair promoted their new roles - Emcee and Sally Bowles - in Cabaret! at the Kit Kat Club on the West End.

The actors were joined by former Top Gear star James May, who revealed the reason behind the decision to end his show, The Grand Tour.

James, who hosted the show with Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond, was asked why it came to an end and quipped: 'I just couldn't stand them'.

He added: 'I've said this many times. We always said, between us, that we would end it with some race, hopefully, rather than fly into the White Cliffs of Dover, desperately trying to keep it along and I think we just about managed that.'

'We'd exhausted the subject, we are getting on a bit. I believe it's time for a new generation to find a new take - I don't know what it is.'

Simon asked: 'Did it feel it was the right time to end it? ' James replied: 'Yes, I think so. You can't overstay your welcome. You're supposed to leave the audience wanting more. It's the rule of show business.'

Billy's blunder marked the second time in recently history the presenters have had to apologise for bad language on the show.

In December, Tim was left reeling after Simon blurted out a swear word while interviewing Selling Sunset star Breana Tiesi about the Netflix show.

During the interview, Simon, 61, got carried away and his comment even left their guest shocked.

The real estate agent, 33, was discussing what filming the popular show is like and Tim and Simon were keen to find out all the gossip from behind the scenes.

During a discussion about stylists, outfits and arguments with co-stars, Breana admitted that she likes to style herself because she's a 'control freak' and doesn't like how the professional stylists dress her.

Simon then said: 'Every episode, one of the highlights of the show is when you're all arriving for work - it's almost like that is the catwalk moment, isn't it?

'I have to try and look behind the looks of 'you look gorgeous'...

'When you're really going... b***h.'

While Breana took Simon's comments in her stride, his co-star Tim was completely shocked and asked: 'Simon, what sort of language is that?!'.

Breana then jumped in and jokily said: 'I was going to say I thought I wasn't allowed to cus?'.

Tim told viewers: 'I'm distancing myself from him.'

But Simon tried to explain his comments by saying: 'It's what they say, I can see it in your eyes!'.

Tim then told viewers: 'A swear word... I apologise to anyone...' before Breana jumped in and told Simon: 'It's very much like that.
