Miley's dad Billy Ray Cyrus says there is a Hannah Montana prequel in the works... and he'd return 'in a heartbeat'
Nine years after the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana went off the air, a new prequel series could be in the works, according to Billy Ray Cyrus.
Cyrus, 58, teased that a prequel series to the original Hannah Montana is 'in the works' during a recent interview with Hollywood Life.
'They’re talking about doing a prequel, which to me, I would do that in a heartbeat,' Cyrus dished.

'Because that means I get to get my mullet back,' Cyrus joked referring to the mullet his character Robbie Ray wore on the show.
'I think there’s a whole story that led up to Miley becoming Hannah Montana,' Cyrus added, referring to his daughter, Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus.
The series debuted on The Disney Channel in 2006, following Miley Stewart, a young girl who moved from Tennessee to Malibu, California, as she adapts to a whole new lifestyle.

But Miley hides a secret that only a few know: that she leads a double life as pop star Hannah Montana.
Those that know her secret include her father/manager Robbie Ray (Billy Ray Cyrus), brother Jackson (Jason Earles) and friends Lilly Truscott (Emily Osment) and Oliver Oken (Mitchell Musso), with Lilly leading a double life herself as Hannah's friend Lola.
The series also starred Moises Arias as Rico, though it remains unclear which, if any, of the other original stars will return for this prequel

In the original series, Billy Ray's character Robbie Ray was an alias he used to perform under as a rock star, but he retired to take care of his two kids after the passing of his wife.
It's possible the prequel series could explore Robbie Ray's days as a rocker, though no details have been given.
Cyrus did add that he didn't initially want to play the father of Hannah Montana, since he wasn't really an actor.
