Britain's trend-setting restaurants are leaving a bad taste in diners' mouths as they try to ditch the traditional plate.
Punters have been left bemused as their food is served in cocktail glasses, in miniature shopping trolleys and even on bricks.
However the creative efforts of restaurant bosses have gone too far and customers - who just want a good meal - are taking to social media to expose the worst offenders.
Disgruntled diners have been sharing photographs of the bizarre items their food has been served on. Juanita Chen was presented her fish on a brick tweeting: 'Here's a way to take advantage of that nearby construction site'
Bob Granleese tweeted: 'Hey, tell you what would be a great idea, let's put the coleslaw IN A SHOPPING TROLLEY'
The photos, shared on Twitter account We Want Plates, reveal how fine dining can so easily verge on the ridiculous. Juanita Chen was astounded when her food was served on an old red brick.
She tweeted a photo of her bizarre fish starter with the caption: 'Here's a way to take advantage of that nearby construction site.'
Bob Granleese was underwhelmed by a supermarket-themed serving suggestion when he ordered a burger with coleslaw on the side - which arrived inside a tiny replica trolley.

George Sudhakar was given a slice of tart on a flat board, which looked perfectly attractive until it comes to pouring on the accompanying jug of custard which poses a spilling hazard.
Sometimes when it comes to presentation chefs leave all the artistic flair at the door and opt for a minimalist approach, Rachael Hitchinson was served porridge in a tin.

Many restaurant goers just want to enjoy great food the old fashioned way, on plates, says Awlad Miah, general manger at Browns, British brasserie and bar in Cambridge.
Mr Miah said: 'We did use a few different things other than plates last year, as part of a trial but the truth is our clientele did not like it.
'The feedback was not good, our customers want classic British food, served in traditional ways.' Mr Miah said as a staple in Cambridge, Bristol, London, Glasgow, Manchester and Windsor people expect their food to be presented in a certain way, adding 'they don't like change'.
