Virtual Hogwarts set to take flight as Harry Potter poised for online move
By JON REES
First came the books, then the films, computer games and theme park, and now Harry Potter fans could soon have a new way to enter the world of their hero.
It is understood that there are plans to create an online world of Harry Potter, the young wizard created by author JK Rowling, funded by advertising and links to other websites that could allow users to adopt the personas of characters from the books.
Magic touch: The final film, The Deathly Hallows Part II, will come out in July
The scheme is understood to be in its early stages but is said to resemble the worldwide hit game Farmville, a farming social network game that lets Facebook users, for instance, manage a 'virtual' farm.
A spokesman for Rowling said he was unaware of the plans.
The release in July of the eighth and final film in the franchise, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part II, will end one of the most successful series in cinema history.
