Owners of EE hang up on plans for market list until 4G services rake in more money
'Patience': EE has more than 1million customers signed up for its 4G offering
Plans to float Britain’s biggest mobile phone group have been shelved by its French and German owners.
EE, the collaboration between Orange and T-Mobile, was due to list later this year. But after reviewing the company, EE’s owners decided to wait for the group’s superfast 4G services to rake in more money.
EE has more than 1million customers signed up for its 4G offering.
Analysts at Nomura have warned EE will require ‘patience’ for the service to start generating a significant uplift in revenues.
The 4G drive has also harmed EE’s customer satisfaction levels, which plummeted during the last year, according to YouGov polling.
Meanwhile telecoms giant Huawei, which has been blacklisted from government work in the US and Australia over security fears, signed a deal to sponsor Arsenal football club in a major UK advertising drive to promote its smartphones.
