Kingston gets mobile
Kingston Communications is dialling into the mobile telephone business under a deal with BT Cellnet, the company announced today.
Kingston, the Hull-based phones group which was promoted to the FTSE-100 last week, will launch services under its own brand names next month.
The mobile services, which will run on the BT Cellnet network, will be aimed at businesses across the UK and consumers in Kingston's home region of East Yorkshire.
Business mobile services will be sold under the company's Torch business, while the Kingston brand will be used to sell services to the group's home ground customers.
Steve Maine, Kingston chief executive said: 'We are combining the widespread and in-depth coverage of the BT Cellnet network with our focused approach to business communications...'
Mr Maine said the group also planned to offer Internet and other interactive services by mobile using the next generation of mobile phone technology.
