Fight for pension payouts

THOUSANDS of victims robbed of their company pensions should lobby their MPs to back their fight for compensation.

The Government has refused to compensate the 85,000 workers who lost their retirement savings, despite being urged to do so by the Parliamentary Ombudsman, who investigated the scandal.

The Parliamentary Ombudsman blamed the Government for misleading savers about the safety of their occupational schemes.

And a number of MPs are unhappy about the way the Government has washed its hands of the affair. The Pensions Action Group, which is fighting for justice for the victims, claims a growing number of MPs are now on their side.

But more MPs need to be recruited to the cause if the Government is to be persuaded to change its mind.

'Many thousands of victims have yet to contact their MPs and they need to do so with the utmost urgency,' says Peter Humphrey, of the Pensions Action Group.

'They need to let their MPs know that the Government's behaviour is unacceptable and that the Parliamentary Ombudsman's report should not be brushed under the carpet.'

Details of how to contact your MP are given at www.pensionstheft.org under involving your MP.
