A Monopoly game ended in bloodshed after a man produced a samurai sword in a row over the players making too much noise.
The group were reportedly playing the board game on the sidewalk of a street in the municipality of Forest, Belgium, when they were confronted by an annoyed neighbour on Sunday.
Complaining that it was already 5am and that he couldn't sleep because of the noise they made, the man tried to scare them away with a stick he had carried in his hand.
When he failed to do so, and they all started fighting, his son came out of the residence carrying the katana sword. He then engaged in a physical fight with one of the Monopoly players, which is when the sword's scabbard got damaged and exposed the blade, cutting both of them.

When he failed to do so, and they all started fighting, his son - having heard the noise - came out of the residence carrying the katana sword (similar to the ones pictured)
Both men were immediately rushed to the hospital, but while the Monopoly player was released the next day after medical checks and a follow-up police questioning, the katana owner had to be held up after having sustained a deep cut in an artery.
Belgian media revealed that his condition is still serious.
A katana sword, which is a deadly Japanese weapon, is characterised by a curved, single-edged blade with a circular or squared guard and long grip to accommodate two hands.
It was reportedly used by samurai warriors in feudal Japan and worn with the edge facing upward.
