But former President Donald Trump was understandably yet uncharacteristically somber as he entered the courtroom today to face felony criminal charges.
Throughout the historic day in New York City, his expression wavered from triumphant (fist pumping for fans outside Trump Tower) to trepidatious (as he arrived at the Manhattan Criminal Court).
Inside, his spirits seemed to dip further.
As he emerged from having his fingerprints taken and rights read aloud, he looked positively outraged by the proceedings.
Sat inside at the defense table, the 76-year-old was hunched over with curiosity. He pleaded not guilty to all 34 counts.
