Man dies after climbing rock face painted with 'Yes' mural just a day before referendum

A man has died after falling from a famous rock where a 'Yes' mural was recently painted in the lead up to the Voice referendum.

The man, 60, appears to have climbed the steep rock face at Piano Rock in Tamborine Mountain National Park, one hour west of the Gold Coast on Thursday afternoon.

Queensland ambulance crews were called to the Tamborine Mountain Road landmark just after 4pm following reports a man had fallen to the road below.

Police confirmed on Friday morning the man had died.

A report is being prepared for the coroner but the death is not being treated as suspicious.
